Roar Of Relief Student Missions is a student-based, short-term mission team organization dedicated to engaging young people in service to God and others.
We aim to unite college students and college-aged adults on small, week-long mission and service trips. Our goal is to share God’s love and the character of Christ through our actions and service. Finally, we seek with our words to share the Gospel with our communities.
We focus on disaster relief and community service, combining the biblical principles of redemption and restoration with our acceptance of God’s call to give of ourselves to those in need.
Scheduling Mission Trips
RoR Mission Trips are generally five days long.
This allows mission teams to spend time building community with people they are working with, and to have the basic experience of service-oriented missions.
Below are the common targets for scheduling, although trips sometimes deviate from this format.
Early Week Trips
Usually start on Sunday afternoon and end on Thursday evening.
Sometimes, trips run from Friday to Wednesday or Thursday.
Sunday is the Arrival Day, followed by Working Days Monday through Wednesday, and then Returning Day on Thursday.
Late Week Trips
Generally start on Wednesday afternoon and end on Sunday evening. Wednesday is the Arrival Day, followed by Working Days Thursday through Saturday, and then Returning Day on Sunday.
Trip Itinerary
Arrival Day is the day on which the Mission Team departs from their rendezvous and arrives at their lodging. Generally, this day is centered around efficient travel, with very few unnecessary stops being made along the way.
Working Days are the weekdays during which the Mission Team is engaged in the work they came to do.
Returning Day is similar to Arrival Day. The Mission team leaves early in the morning to start their trip back. When Returning Day is a Sunday, the team will usually go to church.
On Return Day, the Mission Team will often have a fun activity or sit down for a meal on the way home. The purpose of the Return Day Activity is to punctuate the end of the trip. Because RoR Mission Trips generally take place during or around college breaks, Return Day helps to put the break in the break.
Weekend Trips
Start on Friday or Saturday and end on Sunday evening. Some of these trips are Day-Trips, and some of them include overnight stays.
